Men's Beachwear

With summer just lolling around the corner, what’s ‘hot’ for men to wear on the beach?
This year the shades are cool with mostly large prints (depending on your taste), both for the sake of sex appeal and high visibility in the heat muy caliente!

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the beach? A lovely long swim in the cool azure waters of the sea, perhaps? Well, in that case I suggest you scrutinize your wardrobe carefully before stepping out with your surfboard under our arm. For gone are the days of modest trunks and longish shorts. Nowadays men’s swimwear is as stylish as it is sexy.

Much of the fabric is usually comprised of the highly malleable lycra or latex with prints as varied as polka dots, large motifs or absolutely flashy, wild dabs of color. And they come in varied styles too. For those who are somewhat shy, a legskin swimsuit covering your lower limbs would be the best bet. For the more daring and baring men a ‘Brazil style’ low-cut swim brief would definitely draw attention. Or you could go for a simple lycra-manufactured figure-hugging swim suit. The choice is yours.

If, on the other hand, you are looking for relaxation on the seaside and are content watching the sea waves lashing against the shore as your dog swims ashore after an exciting dip, don’t forget to look into the latest trends for beach shorts. These come in lycra (of course), cotton, nylon, polyester and cotton silk and in diverse designer varieties while keeping comfort in mind.

You could go for the really comfy Bermuda style shorts, or shorts with elastic and ropes around the waist region or simply elastic around the waist. Or you could amble up and down the beach feeling the sand crunching pleasantly under your feet in traditional thigh-length shorts.

Surprise, surprise but those too are ‘in’. If you are thinking of going surfing you could wear board shorts made of cotton, polyester or micro fiber which are tightly stitched in doubles or triples and supported by elastic waist bands.
And what sort of shirts should you wear with your capris or shorts? Half-sleeved cotton shirts do very well in the summery heat. These should be of cool colors with leafy or even floral motifs.

They could also be in stripes or checks, or maybe just plain. Also don’t forget your beach slippers preferably in canvas or plastic. The braided jute designer variety is something you might want to ‘hotlist’ this summer. Have a great time by the seaside!
